Overview
Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observations, experiences, reflections, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth and it is therefore essential personnel in every strata in the organization, learn to discern and analyze carefully using their metacognition to think deeply using proper process to solve problems and make sound decisions so that problems or behaviors are not repeated and solutions derived are sustainable.
This ½ Day program is working on using critical thinking skills to solve workplace or life problems and ensuring problems are conceptualized, critically analyzed and evaluated and viable creative solutions are derived that are sustainable.
Course Outline
- Differentiate between Logical, Critical and Systems Thinking
- Relate the need for Critical and Systems Thinking to organisational vision, mission and goals
- Apply divergent and convergent techniques for generating and selecting ideas
- Apply Critical Thinking Skills and Six-step Problem-Solving Model to a real workplace problem (customised) to derive a sustainable solution or suggestions
